Profession

The main motivation of our organisation is to provide the opportunity to acquire competences that can complement our members’ university education, so our programmes aim to develop teamwork, debate culture, a deeper understanding of the different fields of foreign policy and diplomacy, and the ability to think analytically, critically and objectively.

General

The world of international relations, foreign policy and diplomacy requires a particularly complex and wide range of competences, and the composition of our programmes is equally diverse and varied. The general features of events for members include practicality, interactivity and skills development, which add relevance to the academic curriculum and knowledge essential for everyday diplomacy. Our College welcomes all opportunities for cooperation that will help us to achieve our common goals, such as creating a more intensive and broader educational opportunity, developing a world view based on real experience, and cultivating and analysing international relations with due care, competence and competence.

Open lectures

Every semester we organise several open lectures for the general public at the Corvinus University of Budapest, where we bring together national experts and practitioners on various policy, cultural and social issues in panel discussions for university students and all interested parties.

Simulations

In our closed-loop diplomatic simulation, we simulate the functioning of an international organisation with its rules of procedure, fictional/real agenda and teams that mimic the characteristics of the parties involved. These sessions provide our members with the opportunity to learn more about the functioning of the international organisation, to study in depth the positions, interests and negotiating techniques of the parties involved, and to develop their negotiating techniques and diplomatic skills. In addition to our own semi-annual closed simulations, we help our members to participate in major simulation competitions organised at home/abroad by identifying and, we plan to support them financially through grants.

Professional day

The special feature of the professional days is the combination of different interactive learning methods in our group work, which we test to create the most effective and ideal way to work together, both in terms of efficiency and self-development. We test our work not only with each other, but also with the help of observers who monitor and control the whole process. The solutions obtained at the end of the day will be used to refute the claims made during the presentations by the other participants from as many sides as possible, thus increasing the likelihood of a truly thoughtful and objective product.

Workshops

We regularly invite experts from a variety of disciplines and practitioners to introduce us to a topic in a closed discussion, workshop or training session, which provides an opportunity for more direct interaction between the membership and our invited speakers.

Current policy analysis

We also follow global political events closely and discuss recent developments together, and our joint current affairs analyses are always intensive occasions where members can compare their assessments and policy insights with senior members on a particular international political event or conflict, with the aim of developing their analytical skills.

Debates

Participants can debate their own or their representative’s position on a social, public, economic or political issue in an organised setting. And in workshop discussions, participants can freely express their views on a given topic without any constraints.

Embassy visits

Our professional programmes include visits to embassies in Hungary to gain insight into the day-to-day work of embassies, and to meet diplomats working at embassies to discuss the personal and professional challenges of their assignments, their goals and experiences of serving in Hungary, and their personal experiences of being a diplomat.
